St. James' Episcopal Church is built on land originally part of George Washington's estate at Mount Vernon, Virginia.  Ground was broken for the church in the early 60's on five acres situated between Mount Vernon and Woodlawn, the home Washington built for Martha's grandchild, Nelly Custis. It is directly off Old Mill Road, reflecting its origins as the route between Washington's home and his grist mill.

The church has recently completed a beautiful new narthex, parish office upgrade, and all sort of other wonderful upgrades to the facilities. Below is a photo of the exterior of the new entrance as well as an interior photo of the main hall or gallery. Notice the four side panels which will eventually lead to a new parish hall which is yet to be built.

Below is the front of the Rectory as well as two photos of the rear of the rectory. This four bedroom home will be our new home. We are excited about the wonderful space this home provides as well as the privacy afforded by it's proximity some distance from the church and yet on adjoining property. There is plenty of room to kick soccer balls in the back and shoot basketballs in thr front. We remain hopeful that the commute for Caroline each day is not too difficult or long.
